Add ability to create ad hoc invoices (not attached to product)

As with most hosting/IT companies, we constantly generate one off invoices for services like Web Development, I.T. work, etc…

Having to attach it to a product does no good, as there is no way to include a description of services provided on the invoice, and also inundates the users account with tens’s or even hundred’s of products. This is just not feasible.

Please add the ability to simply add a invoice or billable item to the users account.

I just verified that regardless of using the same product (i.e. Web Development or IT Services), it creates a brand new product in the customers account for every invoice. This is what we do NOT want. No product linking, just a simple invoice that shows under Invoices, NOT under customers Products.

To confirm the functionality that has been implemented - we now have Quick Invoices.

However, when using the Quick Invoice functionality, you will still need to attach a product. To avoid cluttering up the admin area, you can add all Quick Invoice items under one product category. Additionally, if you want to bill based on billable hours, you can use metadata for that purpose.

We have guides for this functionality here (Quick Invoicing): https://docs.upmind.com/docs/quick-invoice-guide
    and here (Metadata): https://docs.upmind.com/docs/how-to-add-additional-information-to-invoice.

    Many thanks

    Sara

This is marked as completed, but I still do not see any way to create invoices that are not attached to a product. Can you please send me documentation on this since I cant find it. Thanks.

This is a must-have and not wanting to push a competitor product, WHMCS has this and is ideal. I use an external service for my accounting, but I do not want to raise invoices through it. I would like to be able to keep all of my customers invoices in one place for simplicity.

@Seb de Lemos you said this was ‘Coming very soon!’ 5 months ago. Is this coming or has it already arrived? I can’t see this anywhere at the moment, in Upmind.

IF you must have it attached to a product, then at least allow a custom description, or note that you can show on the invoice. Example: The Product is called “Web Development” I can then bill the client for 3 hours of Web Development product, but I can also add notes or a description of what was done (i.e. “Updated About Us page – 15 min billable, Updated staff photos – 2.5 hours billable…etc”) which would show on the invoice, so they know exactly what the bill was for.

Any news on this feature? I have weekly billables, but no way to create a simple one off invoice for a service I provide a customer (like Web Design or IT Services).

This is a very widely used feature for anyone that provides services that are different every time.

Take a look at the example that WHMCS does:
